Experience:
Ms. Cougan brings her prior experience as a classroom teacher, adjunct professor, national education consultant for two technology-based curriculum companies, independent math consultant in classrooms across Indiana and curriculum development experience to the CILC Staff. She has extensive experience in building collaborative network opportunities for students and educators, project development, professional development, training, curriculum, mathematics instruction, project and problem based learning, classroom pedagogy and school change which supports CILC"s consulting programs.

CILC Responsibilities:
Monica is currently Director of CILC Business Development and K-12 Services. Her early work as Director of Community Connections for CILC aided in the development and implementation of the CILC Community Vista series connecting the K-12 community to the community at large in an academically based study of real-world issues utilizing problem-based learning and technology applications. This program has been successfully implemented in a number of school settings and academic programs throughout the United States. Monica currently works with members of the CILC staff to support implementation solutions customized to meet the needs of education, as well as business entities. These integrated solutions include customized packages, services and product solutions for schools, districts, consortiums and businesses.

    Governor's Task Force – State of Wyoming Research Project

    Qualitative and quantitative research to support Governor's Task Force on Distance Education, Videoconferencing, and IP Based Communications, providing strategy and tactical direction on all distance education, including virtual schools, deliver in Wyoming. Focus groups, inventory, interviews and surveys were conducted to identify needs, assess gaps, and make recommendations.     National Study of the 50 States: Taking the Wraps off Videoconferencing in the US Classroom
    (November 2008 – April 2009)

    This national and state-by-state analysis updates an effort first conducted in spring 2006 to measure the adoption of videoconferencing in k-12 schools, by accessing the growth and evolution of classroom-based adaption of videoconferencing in k-12 schools, by accessing the growth and evolution of classroom-based videoconferencing networks as of mid-2009. http://www.cilc.org/c/community/research_wp.aspx

    Arkansas State Assessment of Distance Education

    CILC partnered with state leaders in Arkansas to conduct a statewide assessment of their distance education initiative. Representatives from CILC met with regional, state and local school leaders conducting focus groups and interviews.
