Tips from CILC.org

When to Use Which!
I’ve been monitoring collaborations for the last couple of months and noticed some interesting patterns.

#1
Some collaborators are seeking partners from specific countries or areas of the world. For this type of request, one might try searching the Videoconferencing Site Directory.
Here’s how:

  • Go to the Videoconferencing Site Directory and type the name of the desired country in the keyword search box. If a site from that country has been posted, it will show on the results page.
  • Click on the site name to learn necessary contact information.
  • Email your request directly to that contact person.
  • While not as prevalent, some collaborators are looking for a specific state. This process will work in that instance as well.
HINT: If looking for an area, say Central America, click on View all Organizations/Sites Outside of the U.S.A. and peruse the list to find Central American countries posted.

Did you know that if you have a CILC Premium Service Plan, you can post free events to the CILC Calendar of Events? Perhaps your class has created a presentation which needs an audience on a specific date and time. Or, you have created a program in which others may join, again on a specific date and time. Posting on the calendar is a great way to draw attention to your need.
Here’s how:

  • Go to Post Content
  • Scroll down to the last item, Calendar Event.
  • Click on The CILC Calendar of Events
  • Follow the directions for posting.

Both the collaboration and calendar posts are part of the CILC Weekly Update which arrives in your inbox early Monday morning. To receive the Weekly Updates you want, be sure your member profile, including Communication Preferences is up-to-date!
Here’s how to check it.

  • Log into cilc.org
  • Click on Edit Member Profile in the Welcome Back box.
    Welcome Back
  • Review each field.
  • Hit submit when you’re done.

Good luck and may all your collaborations be successful! If you need help to create a dynamite collaboration, the Collaboration Package might be just right for your school or district!
Sincerely,
Dawn
