Content Provider: LEARNnco
- Impact on Learning
“The class that participated in this program was a combination of 2 classes. One was on level and the other an intervention class. This was done to maximize student participation in spending schools funds. The students were impacted greatly by the fact they got to use knowledge they had learned in regular class and put it to a hands on approach. The students who participated in the program demonstrated greater levels of behavioral, affective, and cognitive engagement than most of the lessons that we have done in this unit. This gave our students a chance to participate in a lesson that they would not normally have a chance to experience. It was phenomenal to see how engaged our students were. The principal couldn't say enough!”

“We were not as familiar with minerals as the presenter was. He answered questions more clearly than we could have.”

“The only thing that we would have liked is for all of our students to be able to do the experiments. Even if we had the box that had the experiments in it as a model with a "what to prepare" we would have purchased our own "extra" supplies to give to our students. Also, if we had a “what to do first” list when we got the small box of supplies would have been great. We were kind of at a lost, because we didn’t know what to expect. We just laid all the supplies out and filled the spray bottle with water. If we had a step 1, 2, 3 I was have known a little better. The lesson plans were great, but still an information sheet would have helped clarify. We can’t say enough great things! It was really, really great and this is only a suggestion.”

“Diane Nadler had the students full attention the whole time. The material was presented in a manner that all students were engaged in the learning process. My English language learners have a better understanding of the vocabulary to which they were introduced during the presentation because of their interaction with Diane. This program is great for building background, or as a wrap up activity.”
